Broderick Rodell, PhD ND E-RYT is an educator whose passion and calling is to aid others in the art of practicing a life well-lived. He sees his role as guide to those interested in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and practices that will enable them to develop the characteristics that are conducive to self-realization, wellbeing, and flourishing. A holistic approach to yoga that embraces a broad spectrum of truth claims from past to present over various traditions and disciplines is his means. Capoeira, a Brazilian dance/martial art, is also one of his teaching instruments for developing character and building community.
Broderick received his yoga teacher training under the guidance of master Yogi Baba Hari Dass, a silent, Vaisnava monk, who founded the Mt. Madonna Center in the Santa Cruz mountains of Watsonville, CA. He also has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University.
My vision is to create educational systems and curricula that support individual evolution toward a more whole, loving self. My own search for self-betterment led me to understand that the way to a better reality is through personal development and human kindness. I have found that when we do not address our whole person we miss the golden opportunity to evolve ourselves and take advantage of our unlimited possibilities. Therefore, my approach emphasizes an integration of the whole person, incorporating tools that support the development of mind, body, and soul.
I am a dedicated student and practitioner of a yoga that includes contemplation, meditation, breath work, and mindful movement. I feel that my daily, personal practice is the means by which I am able to express my highest self in service to others. In my yoga classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats I incorporate knowledge gathered from the western sciences of psychology, physiology, and anatomy to compliment the rich yogic disciplines from India.
My life is driven by a strong desire to see more love and kindness in the world. I have faith in our human potential to make it a reality. I believe that we have the capacity to engage in positive and sustainable relationships with each other and the world around us. In order for us to come to this realization, we must develop our capacity to take advantage of the inherent possibilities available to us within our human potential.
I believe that as we consciously and actively pursue our evolution we open ourselves to the possibilities that permit us to manifest a more beautiful, loving, kind, and just world. I am convinced that an integrated approach that employs a variety of tools that support the overall development of the mind, body, and soul will yield the best results. When we choose to actively participate in our evolution and tap into the well of our greater possibilities, we make up our minds to embark on a path of exhibiting excellence in whatever we set out to do in the world.
